The KPF Design Principal gave a presentation on “Resilience and Resonance” in architecture to students at the Georgia Tech SOA on January 16.
With over three decades of design experience leading projects around the world, Hana is a leading expert on the topic of human-centric architecture and has designed projects from adaptive reuse overhauls to large-scale developments. Author of The Plan’s recent editorial essay “Resonance: Mind and Matter in Architecture” and co-editor of the book Architect d.b.a | On Re-defining the Roles of the Architect Today, she is dedicated to establishing new architectural norms for psychologically friendly design.
Hana’s presentation at the Georgia Tech School of Architecture delved into her extensive experience in resilient design, drawing on her work for the NYCHA Red Hook Houses and the HKUST (GZ) Student Activity Center, both of which incorporate design solutions to mitigate extreme weather events and foster user connection and wellbeing. She has taught at Yale School of Architecture, The Cooper Union, and Parsons School of Constructed Environments, where she emphasizes experiential engagement with the environment, particularly in marginalized communities.
