Dora Dong Presents at the 2024 C3 Build Exhibition in Shenzhen

The KPF Senior Associate Principal gave two lectures as a part of the annual conference, addressing adaptive reuse’s impact on the performance of urban architecture and the importance of façade treatments for urban renewal projects.

The C3 Build Conference, which took place November 14–16, showcased developments and prospects for the construction industry under the theme “Boundless City, Sustainable Future.” Dora, who has worked on some of KPF’s most influential mixed-use projects in China, such as C Future Park and Hubei Gardens, sees adaptive reuse as a burgeoning typology in the Chinese architecture and construction industries.

Her first presentation was at the BAU Congress China Plus, hosted by Boris Schade-Bunsow, Editor-in-Chief of Bauwelt, and showcased KPF’s successful renovation of Southbank Tower in London, among other projects. Dora participated in a follow-up panel discussion that gave the audience an opportunity to interact with the topic and dive deeper into the specific challenges of adaptive reuse. Her second presentation was facilitated by the Shenzhen Curtain Wall Association and discussed various façade strategies for adaptive reuse projects, illustrating each with case studies from KPF’s decades of expertise.
