Poised to elevate the city by connecting the Central Business District to Dongguan Park, the China Resources Land (CRL) Center recently began the above-ground construction of its supertall tower.
The First Construction Group team completed pouring the top basement slab of Tower 1 (T1) on November 17, marking the beginning of work on the tower’s 1,476-foot upper structure. T1, with hotel and office programs, is angled to maximize views toward the estuary, wetlands, and reservoir for guests and tenants. Upon completion, the landmark tower will be Dongguan’s tallest building and is located at the intersection of two major urban axes, where it serves as a gateway to the mixed-use district.
KPF’s design integrates office, hotel, retail, residential, and civic programs into the development, creating a new hub of urban activity for this densely built city in the Pearl River Delta. The district consists of three towers and a high-rise podium, with a ground construction area of 2,380,000 square feet. Exemplifying transit-oriented development, the CRL Dongguan Center will feature two subway entrances along with a pedestrian-only path to stimulate car-free circulation.
