Citing Bain & Company’s forecast that air travel demand will surpass 2019 pre-COVID levels by 2024, the article highlights the need for well-designed and environmentally mindful airports. The terminal, designed in collaboration with Heatherwick Studio, is set to start construction in 2025, with an opening in the mid-2030s. The terminal’s design concept treats the “airport as a city,” channeling the city-state’s lush natural landscape and lively urban scale. Changi T5 is targeting Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy Building as certified by the Building and Construction Authority.
