The KPF Global Director of Sustainability delivered a lecture at the University of Pennsylvania’s Weitzman School of Design as part of the Fall 2025 Architectural Technology Speakers Series.
On November 12 at 10:15 AM, Carlos presented “Leveraging Thermal Modeling Research for the Design of Resilient Urban Environments” during the “Data, Details, Delivery” themed Architectural Technology Speakers Series, hosted by Penn’s Department of Architecture. This event highlights KPF’s enduring relationship with the Weitzman School—alma mater of KPF co-founder Gene Kohn—and the firm’s ongoing engagement with the school’s extra-curricular and lecture programs. The series welcomes Penn students and faculty to connect with leading practitioners and researchers in architectural technology.
Carlos’ lecture explored how designers and policymakers use urban microclimate models to understand the ways built environments and climatic conditions influence human sensorial experience. Drawing on recent research in thermal comfort modeling, he demonstrated how these tools can inform the design of resilient, people-centered urban spaces in changing climates around the world.
