The KPF Director gave a presentation outlining the design, pre-construction, and construction process of the Texas supertall as part of a lecture series hosted by the University’s Architectural Engineering department.
On Friday, February 14, Andrew showed process material associated with Waterline, currently under construction in Austin. Set to be the tallest tower in Texas, Waterline overlooks the city’s Lady Bird Lake and incorporates greenery through a park at ground level, which is extended through multiple elevated terraces. Part of the UT ArchE Friday Noon Lecture Series, the discussion was attended by students who are currently designing a residential high-rise as part of their studio course this semester and helped familiarize the young designers with multi-disciplinary, multi-firm projects.
As Design Director for Waterline, Andrew is deeply involved with the design intent, program, and position of the tower, as well as the ins and outs of the collaborative process the project has entailed. He has previously led site tours of Waterline, which is set to top out in August.
The lecture took place at UT Austin at noon local time.
