It is software independent, easily accessible, and packages complex design scenarios into one click.
The architectural process relies heavily on the architect’s expertise and intuition. At the same time, technology firms are vying to entirely quantify the practice of design and urban planning, which ignores the agency of the architect, the occupant, and the community at large. As designers of large-scale projects, we understand that making complex data approachable is difficult. Creating accessible and understandable interactive tools for the visual exploration of data is even harder. Scout addresses this challenge in 3D through clever and careful visual and interaction design. Using Scout, architects can use performance data to make more informed decisions, while clients and stakeholders can explore the same design space and have their own voices heard. Scout makes algorithms, analyses, and data that are normally available only to experts accessible to anyone; it has been deployed on over 90 KPF projects and was honored with a 2020 Fast Company Innovation by Design Award in the Data Design category.
