With its highly-articulated glass façade and kaleidoscopic interiors, Two Kingdom Street is the focal point of Paddington Central, offering sought-after office and studio space for London’s creative industries.
Two Kingdom Street forms part of the second phase of one of London’s largest mixed-use development projects, providing 34,900 square meters of premier commercial space. Facing Sheldon Square in the northwest line of approach from Paddington Station, the anchor building opens directly onto Kingdom Street, the active central boulevard. With generous access to public transportation, bike lanes, and pedestrian ways, Two Kingdom Street is optimally located for the overflow of creative industries from the West End.
A large full-height atrium space, animated by scenic lifts, simultaneously provides both a dramatic backdrop to the entrance lobby and excellent views to the north and west. Day-lighting to the office spaces is maximised through full-height glazing panels shaded by a subtle framework of projecting mullions. The northwest atrium makes extensive use of structural glazing to emphasize the visual presence of the building on the busy elevated Westway that leads into central London.
Achieving a BREEAM rating of Excellent, Two Kingdom Street aspires to the highest sustainability standards. A bespoke matrix was developed by KPF and AECOM to monitor the environmental, social, and economic impact of the building. In addition to addressing responsible development through structural, material, and energy-related strategies, the design provides 239 bicycle spaces and central access to environmentally conscious transportation means, a holistic consideration for the building’s entire lifecycle.
