Inspired by the site’s rich heritage, the façade and massing of the low-rise buildings pay tribute to the character of Xintiandi and the former Dong-Tai Road Antique Market. The masterplan draws from the traditional lilong (里弄) typology – a distinct Shanghainese neighborhood concept characterized by interconnected narrow streets and intimate courtyards. The material palette, featuring stone, brick, terrazzo, and Shanghai plaster, evokes the area’s cultural history while blending tradition with modern luxury.
