Work on the KPF-designed renovation project in Manhattan’s Flatiron District commenced in November 2020.
YIMBY shared new construction images of One Madison Avenue, with scaffolding covering the existing building as the renovation is underway. The project, designed by KPF and developed by SL Green, consists of updating the 13-story podium structure and adding an 18 story tower, providing a total of 1.3 million square feet of Class-A office space with views of Madison Square Park.
One Madison Avenue’s design retains 67% of the original building structure, reusing a significant amount of embodied carbon, allowing the project to comply with the 2030 building emission targets set by NYC’s Local law 97. The building is projected to achieve LEED Gold certification.
