One Vanderbilt Named Among New Atlas’ Best Buildings of 2020

The KPF tower was chosen by the outlet as one of the top 10 buildings of the year for its contribution to the New York skyline.

One Vanderbilt stands at 1,401 feet, defining the New York City skyline alongside the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building as Midtown Manhattan’s tallest office tower. Located adjacent to Grand Central Terminal, One Vanderbilt transforms the civic experience of the district with public realm improvements, and provides direct below grade connections to the city’s transportation network. The tower features terracotta details and was constructed using steel made of 90% recycled content.

The best-of-the-year list includes projects that range in style and program and were chosen by New Atlas for the design’s commitment to excellence. One Vanderbilt is one of two projects located in the United States included in the list.

New Atlas was founded in 2002 and covers a wide range of topics, including technology, science, transportation, architecture, and design. View the full list here.

One Vanderbilt officially opened this fall, and last month was awarded the Engineering News-Record Award of Merit. For more about the tower’s design and construction, see Stories “One Vanderbilt: 100 Years in the Making” and “Next to Grand Central, the faster track: One Vanderbilt.
