One Vanderbilt Honored with Structural Engineers Association of New York Award

The KPF-design office tower in Midtown won in the New Buildings category in this year’s Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards.

As Midtown Manhattan’s tallest office tower, One Vanderbilt rises over 1,400 feet. The project’s form is comprised of four interlocking volumes that taper in a spiraling fashion towards the top. The Structural Engineers Association of New York praised the project for its graceful architecture and sustainable construction, stating that One Vanderbilt “will revitalize its neighborhood and serve as a model for future public-private endeavors” in the announcement. Severud Associates served as the structural engineer for the project.

This year’s winners were selected by a panel of five experts in architecture and engineering. Additional categories include Renovation/Retrofit of Structures, Other Structures, Engineer’s Choice Award, and Young Engineer of the Year Award.

The Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards (EiSE) Awards are sponsored by the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY) with the purpose of celebrating creative achievement and innovation in structural engineering. Learn more about the awards here.
