KPF Hosts Extra Mile Challenge for Charity

This fall, KPF hosted a virtual challenge to encourage the firm’s global employees to exercise for a good cause. Based on total miles covered, the firm donated over $20,000 to local charities and Habitat for Humanity.

Over three weeks, KPF employees from around the world participated in the Extra Mile Challenge, logging activities through the exercise tracking app Strava. Seven of the global offices chose to support local charities that had special significance to them. KPF chose Habitat for Humanity as their global charity, due to COVID-19’s cancellation of the firm’s yearly volunteer trip with the organization. KPF donated $3 for each mile completed; in total, $20,650 was raised, with half going to local charities and the other half going to Habitat.

189 employees participated, taking part and tracking activities including running, hiking, biking, swimming, and even canoeing. The firm covered 11,614 miles in total. Different activities received varying weights: every mile walked was a true mile, but every mile biked equaled .333 miles. Every mile swam was equivalent to three weighted miles. To add extra excitement to the Extra Mile Challenge, awards were given out for the fastest 5k times, best location photo, and best motivator.

Three KPF employees from the Singapore office — Rinor Komoni, Stephane Depuits, and Charles Frivaldo — went above and beyond and spelled out the firm’s initials with their cycling paths.
