KPF Design Technology Experts Teach Conference Seminars

Veronica Quintero led a session on presentation strategy and Andy Christoforou, with Sharel Liu, led a session on D5 Rendering at the Autodesk University Conference 2024. Justyna Szychowska taught a Grasshopper workshop at the annual AEC Tech Conference on October 24.

Part of AU 2024: The Design & Make Conference, Veronica’s Autodesk University session was titled “Presenting with Purpose: Strategies for Crafting Clear and Powerful Presentations.” Veronica, the Head of BIM in KPF’s New York office, discussed accessible ways professionals can level up their presentation skills, from creating compelling visual aids to delivering information in a concise, passionate format. The seminar examined techniques for identifying key elements of impactful presentations, distilling complex software-generated visuals into digestible images, and presenting with confidence despite high-pressure environments. The session was held on October 15 at 12pm. Find out more here.

Andy and Sharel’s Autodesk University session explored how designers can integrate D5’s AI-powered tools as a core component of their design workflow, using it in concert with their modeling software. The KPF Senior Applied Technology Specialist and Design Technology Intern explained and demonstrated D5 tools such as D5 Lightmode, which creates refined reference images directly from design specs; D5 Livesync, a series of live link plug-ins that instantly synchronize changes between common modeling software; and D5 Render, a real-time renderer with optimized quality and efficiency. The session was guided by Andy and Sharel’s personal experience with D5 Render and AI alongside case studies of when these tools may be useful or even invaluable. The session was held on October 17 at 4:30pm, find out more here.

Justyna Szychowska, Senior Software Developer at KPF, co-taught a workshop entitled “Grasshopper on the Web: Creating Websites with Rhino.Compute, Vue, & Three.js” with Sophie Moore, Senior Applications Developer at Core Studio. The seminar focused on how to build custom web interfaces for real-time control and display of Grasshopper definitions, specifically in concert with Rhino.Compute, Vue.js, and Three.js. The workshop ran for a full conference day on October 24, find out more here.
