Throughout June, KPF staff in the New York office came together to celebrate, connect, and give back—honoring the legacy of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising and the ongoing work of LGBTQIA+ communities in shaping our cities.
The annual KPF Pride Happy Hour on June 4 kicked off the celebration, drawing staff together for food, drinks, and a firm-wide fundraiser. This year’s event featured a special edition Pride Pin, designed by Sam Cooperman of KPF New York—selected through the annual KPF Pride Logo Competition, which saw a record number of submissions and votes. Sam said of the design: “With this year’s focus on allyship, I translated the colors of the pride flag into tiled shapes, interlocking to create a cascading form on the pin. The associated graphics take this small condition and repeats it infinitely, expressing the vibrancy and multitude of pride.”
All proceeds from the pins benefitted The Trevor Project—the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people. The evening’s highlight was a surprise performance by drag queen Hazyl, who brought energy and glamour with live songs and hosted three rounds of big-prize bingo.
Also on June 4, KPF staff joined the Build Out Alliance & ULI Pride Kick-Off, supporting the broader AEC and development community’s commitment to equity and inclusion. KPF has been a proud supporter of the Build Out Alliance since 2019 and is a Double Rainbow sponsor, championing the organization’s work for LGBTQ+ inclusion and visibility in building, design, and construction.
On June 17, KPF’s Young Designers Forum (YDF) and KPF Pride collaboratively organized a Walking + Sketch Tour of Christopher Street and the West Village—one of New York City’s most storied neighborhoods for LGBTQ+ history. Participants strolled through the heart of the neighborhood, stopped to sketch the architecture, and capped the evening with a happy hour at Julius’ Bar, the oldest gay bar in the city.
To conclude the month’s social calendar, KPF’s New York office also hosted the AIA NY LGBTQIA+ Alliance Pride Party on June 23 and participated in the Build Out Alliance Pride Party on June 25, where KPF staff joined colleagues across the design community in celebration.
From fundraisers and performances to walking tours and sketch nights, KPF’s 2026 Pride Month was a month of creativity, community, and purpose. Thank you to the KPF Pride Committee, YDF, and everyone who participated—and to The Trevor Project for the vital work they do every day.
