Throughout March, KPF+ hosted a series of events including networking across the AEC industry, a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Session, a keynote and panel discussion, and a fun run to support inclusivity and diversity in our design work and studio.
KPF+ is an internal community group dedicated to enabling women to achieve their full potential at work and to advancing gender equity in leadership. Throughout March, KPF offices around the world participated in a series of engaging events, outlined below, based on this year’s IWD theme, #AccelerateAction, organized by the group.
March 1-31: Women’s Month Installation
An installation—backlit in glowing purple and curated with models and sketches— showcasing some of the transformative work attributed to our skilled women designers was displayed in the main entry of KPF’s New York office.
March 5: Unique Female Voices, A Table to Share
KPF Principal Rebecca Cheng was selected amongst ten leading women to attend ‘Unique Female Voices, A Table to Share,’ hosted by the Roca Gallery in collaboration with the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
March 7: Internal IWD Launch & Jewellery Making Session
KPF+ the launched International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month program at the firm’s London office.
Female employees of KPF’s Shanghai office attended a hands-on DIY jewellery-making experience at a local jewellery store.
March 11: YDF Design Charrette & Reflections / Refractions Panel Discussion
KPF’s Young Designer’s Forum (YDF) hosted a thought-provoking session centred on safe and inclusive design at KPF’s London office.
Deborah Berke, FAIA and Susan Rodriguez, FAIA joined KPF+ as guest panellists for the globally streamed conversation titled “Reflections / Refractions,” where they discussed their careers and concluded with a Q&A from KPF+ and the wider KPF community.
March 13: Networking Breakfast
KPF+ invited women across the AEC industry for a morning of networking and breakfast.
March 20: Making Space for Girls & Queen to Queen Fun Run
KPF+ hosted a CPD from “Make Space for Girls,” a charity advocating for parks and public spaces designed to include girls and young women, during a lunch session at its London office. The session showcased projects shaped by the voices of young girls, ensuring their needs are represented in public spaces.
KPF embarked on a scenic run starting at the firm’s London office, located in Covent Garden, passing the historic statues of Victoria Embankment Gardens and Waterloo Bridge, before finishing at the Queen’s Head pub.
March 21: Women’s History Month Lunch
KPF’s London office enjoyed an office lunch with a selection food sourced from local female-led businesses and shared more KPF+ stories.
March 25: Keynote Speaker: Mariana Cabugueira
KPF+ hosted Founder and Architect Director of (MC) Studios, Mariana Cabugueira for a lecture streamed globally where she discussed the hybrid practice of architecture for physical landscapes and the Metaverse.
March 2025: Yafei Zhang Awarded the Bevy Emerging Leadership Award
The Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation (BWAF) honored KPF Associate Principal Yafei Zhang for her contributions to the architecture community. The Bevy Leadership Awards elevates outstanding female leaders in the traditionally male-dominated AEC field.
