Heron Wins CREW Tampa Bay Excellence Award

The KPF-designed residential development in Florida received the Design Excellence award in the 9th annual CREW Tampa Bay celebration.

Located in Water Street Tampa, the world’s first WELL-certified neighborhood, Heron prioritizes a healthy environment for residents. Taking inspiration from nearby coral reefs on the Florida coast, Heron’s design features organic forms and angular shapes, utilizing native species throughout the project, board form structural concrete, and perforated metal. The towers’ orientation maximizes natural light within units and wrap-around balconies serve as both shading devices and light diffusers for the apartments below. The project is certified LEED Gold, achieved through highly optimized mechanical systems and water-efficient landscaping that help reduce heat island effect.

CREW Tampa Bay is the leading organization for women in the Tampa Bay real estate industry. This year marks the 9th annual Excellence Awards, which honor standout achievements and leadership within the region. A gala was held on November 10th to celebrate this year’s winners.
