The observation deck at 30 Hudson Yards won in the Outdoor Space category in this year’s program.
The highest outdoor observation deck in the Western Hemisphere, Edge cantilevers 80 feet from the 100th floor of 30 Hudson Yards and offers visitors unobstructed views over New York City. Edge’s triangular, 7,500-square-foot form is surrounded by angled, mullion-free glass panels, inviting visitors to lean out into the skyline. Bleacher steps create a perch in the sky, while a 225-square-foot glass floor, part of the geometry of the building, puts visitors directly above Manhattan’s bustling streets.
Additionally, ‘Journey to Edge,’ created by LAB at Rockwell Group, won the ‘Exhibition/Installation’ category. The immersive experience guides visitors towards the observation deck, following a narrative about Hudson Yards’ transformation from an active rail yard to New York City’s newest neighborhood.
