The Design Principal joined the panel discussion, “Designing for collaboration: Creating research environments that drive innovation.”
The session explored the key design principles that foster collaborative ecosystems for tenants. To drive innovation, life science developments need social diversity and spaces that facilitate serendipitous encounters, and interdisciplinary exchanges. The proximity of diverse spaces in type and scale, along with shared facilities and common areas, encourage interaction and support the success of research environments.
Elie’s portfolio includes some of KPF’s most successful academic and life sciences buildings, including One North Quay, a vertical health and life sciences campus in London. Europe’s largest commercial lab, it incorporates components such as a stacked ‘neighbourhoods’ scheme and interconnecting communal spaces that support cross-discipline collaboration.
Elie was joined on the panel by Jodie Eastwood, Chief Executive at the London Knowledge Quarter. The panel was moderated by Stephen Ryan, Founder of Life Science Real Estate.
