Andy Christoforou Shares How KPF Is Using AI to Create Impactful Visuals with Runway

The KPF Senior Applied Technology Specialist spoke to the software company about how KPF uses AI tools during the design phase of projects around the world.

In virtually every industry, AI is reshaping how companies work, and architecture is no exception. Especially in early concept phases, AI is transforming architectural visualization and KPF has been on the cutting edge, using tools like Runway to develop ideas and achieve impactful design solutions. Runway quickly animates still renderings, transforming photos into video and is, “extremely important during the pitch process when we’re trying to win new projects, and can often be a determining factor in which firm is awarded a project,” says Andy.

In the interview, Andy describes how Runway’s AI technology makes high-quality renderings and animations, which are vital for design competitions and client pitches, significantly faster to produce. By bringing the process of transforming photorealistic renderings into video in-house, KPF’s visualization team can quickly generate what design teams need without a complicated process of briefs, reviews, markups, and potential miscommunications. The technology, Andy says, “Empowers our own creatives to realize their own vision instead of trying to communicate that vision to [a consultant], which takes a lot of time and has the potential to be misinterpreted.”
