KPF Design for Mega Airport Masterplan in Warsaw

KPF recently participated in a British-Polish workshop, on the masterplan for the Central Transport Hub (Centralny Port Komunikacyjny - CPK). The Solidarity Airport will initially serve 45 million passengers per year and will compete with Europe’s largest hub airports.

KPF’s design vision proposes a triangular terminal, connecting with the proposed high-speed railway station, and a smaller, triangular, satellite terminal allowing for expansion. This form references Solidarity and Poland’s position at the centre of Europe as well as providing space for urban activity and efficient transfer times.

“The airport is conceived as a showcase for Poland,” says Design Principal Mustafa Chehabeddine. “Warsaw’s location at the heart of Europe provides an opportunity to compete with Europe’s largest airports. Our design proposes a unique urban experience, with a distinct Polish identity, and an efficient plan for swift passenger transfers.”

The masterplan will be commissioned in early 2020, read more here.
