Plan Your Neighborhood is an interactive quantitative tool that allows users to explore the future potential of housing developments in Hawai’i.
Based on Scout, KPF Urban Interface‘s web tool aimed at testing iterations of urban master plans, Plan Your Neighborhood was developed for the University of Hawai’i Community Design Center and the Hawai’i Public Housing Authority. By toggling between neighborhood elements such as density, transit, and street width, users can measure the impact of each of these variables on urban comfort and efficiency.
KPF’s collaboration with the University of Hawai’i Design Center and the Hawai’i Public Housing Authority creates a platform for discussion, research, and action between urban planners, architects, students, faculty, and public housing residents. Through the use of these tools and conversation, KPFui hopes to improve living experience and quality for future generations. KPFui believes that smart cities are not solely about groundbreaking technology. Instead, smart cities should implement data to design better neighborhoods, work towards sustainability and efficiency, and educate residents.
