Yee Tak Lau Presents One Bangkok at CTBUH Event

On July 3, the KPF Director participated in a panel discussion hosted by CTBUH Bangkok following a tour of The Prelude at One Bangkok.

As a lead-up event to the CTBUH 2024 Asia Conference, architecture and development professionals gathered to discuss how projects can impact the cities around them. Titled “Harnessing Rapid Growth: Towards Livable and Resilient Cities,” the half-day conference focused on One Bangkok as a prime example of a large-scale master plan that integrates local context throughout its components.

Yee Tak delved into the details of One Bangkok’s site, programming, and expression, examining how each aspect led to a dynamic space for the community. With four distinct buildings, One Bangkok brings office space together with hospitality and retail in a human-scaled development. Defining the project is a shaded, nature-inspired civic plaza lined with an array of shops and restaurants, while the surrounding buildings incorporate design elements of Thailand’s rich architectural history.

The tour of The Prelude began at 11 am, after which the panelists headed to the Athenee Hotel for presentations. Yee Tak’s discussion began at 4 pm, where she was joined by fellow panelists Russell Kim, Chief Design and Innovation Officer of Frasers Property Holdings Thailand; Mark Borland, Director and Head of Projects South Asia at Hongkong Land; Charu Thapar, Executive Director of PAM Asia Pacific at JLL; Jan Henckens, General Manager of Nikken Sekkei; and Pichai Wongwaisayawan, Deputy Managing Director of A49. Claudia Melniciuc of RIOS moderated the conversation.
