One Bangkok, New City District, Breaks Ground

On March 8th, TCC Assets Co., Ltd. and Frasers Property Limited celebrated the groundbreaking at the site of One Bangkok, a new 41 acre mixed-use acre in the city’s Central Business District.

A major milestone for the project, it signifies the approval of construction to commence, helmed by KPF Design and Managing Principals Forth Bagley, Trent Tesch, and Bernard Chang.

KPF designed four buildings for the new district’s master plan, expressing a variety of forms and experience that will contribute to the innovative district and its emphasis on wellness. They include two office towers: one melding rational form with vertical extrusions and one invoking the curvilinear forms of traditional Thai architecture. The retail components, adjoining the town square with its dramatic glass canopy, will enliven the area and contribute to its energetic atmosphere through human-scaled, naturally inspired and accessible design.

KPF’s design for One Bangkok received Silver designation for Best Futura Project at the 2017 MIPIM Asia Awards. The firm’s other work in Thailand includes Rosewood Bangkok, a luxury hotel with direct transit access, and Singha Headquarters, a multi-use office tower with a dramatic presence on the city skyline. KPF is growing its experience and presence in Southeast Asia, with ongoing design and construction in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Kuala Lampur, and Manila.
