KPF Principals Restore Community Center Courtyard in the South Bronx

On September 23rd, the principals of Kohn Pedersen Fox teamed with Rebuilding Together NYC and the Banana Kelly Community Improvement Association to revitalize the outdoor community space for a affordable housing complex in the South Bronx.

Banana Kelly is dedicated to creating a safe and economically vibrant South Bronx through the development and management of affordable housing and the provision of targeted human services.  To support this mission, the organization and residents of the East 146th Street location requested a complete overhaul of the currently underutilized outdoor space.  Under the leadership of Rebuilding NYC Together, the KPF volunteer group leveled the ground and laid sod for the lawn, set posts for solar light installations, and built and painted a picket fence.

The residents will be able to use the space for fitness, cook-outs and cooking lesson, community meetings, and farmers markets.
