KPF wins top honours in 2023 A&D Awards and individual awards in the Best Education and Future Development categories for six projects.
In the Best Education category, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) picked up the Gold Award and NYU Shanghai, was presented with a Certificate of Excellence. HKUST(GZ) is a multi-phase development that, on completion, will accommodate more than 10,000 students and faculty, and targets carbon neutrality and zero water waste. NYU Shanghai is a new, globally accessible university campus that provides a gateway for Chinese students to access the world, and for international students to access China. The project is organized into four buildings that span a full city block.
Multiple projects were recognised in the Future Developments Mixed-Use category. Winning Gold, the North Bund (Lot 91), will be Shanghai’s newest, all-electric supertall at 480 meters, that invites the public to appreciate the views from the building’s crown. In the same neighborhood, North Bund Huamao, received a Silver Award, a new model of development for Shanghai, it comprises a range of retail types stitched together seamlessly on site, restoring cross-cultural narratives, and renewing the historic fabric of the North Bund. Two projects also received certificates of excellence in the Future Developments, Mixed-Use category: Guangzhou One Pengrui , a multi-building, mixed-use development that prioritizes resilience and attention to the pedestrian experience; and Urban Star, a former industrial area transformed into a new urban centre with a focus on human-scaled architecture and the preservation of industrial motifs.
