From May 13 to 17, KPF celebrated its fourth annual Tech Week with over two dozen technology-focused workshops, demonstrations, and panel discussions that took place across the firm’s New York and London offices.
Organized by KPF’s Design Technology team, Tech Week is an opportunity for designers of all stripes to get familiar with the technology resources that are available to them, learn how emerging technologies such as AI might affect how they work, and spark conversation around how technology will shape the future of architectural practice.
A keynote presentation titled “Dream Big, Then Make It Real” kicked off the week with a conversation between Global Director of Design Technology Luc Wilson and Principal Forth Bagley, moderated by Principal Claudia Cusumano. The thought leaders discussed the firm’s commitment to developing proprietary tools and workflows to streamline design and delivery of KPF projects.
Throughout the week of programming, KPF employees attended panel discussions, seminars, workshops, and hands-on demonstrations. KPF architects, designers, and technology experts engaged in conversations alongside experts from MIT, NYCCT, Epic Games, SimScale, Walter P. Moore, ATN, and others. Vendors included Arkio, Autodesk, Bluebeam, Chaos & Enscape, D5 Render, EvolveLAB, Integrated Projects, MKS DTECH, Revizto, Sentio VR, Snaptrude, Twinmotion, Varjo, and Trimech.
Christoph Reinhart, Director of the MIT Building Technology Program, closed out the week’s events in an evening session titled “Modeling Facilitating Change,” sharing best practices to transition to a net zero global building stock and improve high performance building design practices.
