KPF Hosts Lunar New Year Card Design Competition

To celebrate the Year of the Ox, KPF announced its annual competition, which tasked staff with designing a 2021 card.

The competition invited the firm’s global employees to creatively reference the Year of the Ox, wishing KPF’s clients and collaborators a “Happy Lunar New Year.” Many designers responded to the prompt with interpretations of the firm’s work in tall towers or references to the city skyline.

An internal vote determined the top three cards, with the winning design by Shixiao Zhang, an Intermediate Architect from the New York office. His card draws inspiration from KPF-designed One Vanderbilt in Midtown Manhattan, with the Chinese symbol of the ox superimposed on an illustration of the tower’s massing. In second place was Jianwei Shi, an Architectural Designer from the New York office. Third place went to Mengshi Sun, an Architectural Designer, also from the New York office.

KPF wishes everyone a happy Lunar New Year!
