KPF Hosts Inaugural International Tech Day

KPF invited technology partners and in-house specialists to its offices to showcase capabilities and opportunities for innovation through a day of discussions, presentations, and hands-on demonstrations.

Organized by the firm’s cross-disciplinary Digital Practice and sponsored with Autodesk, Tech Day 2020 kicked off in London, where morning presentations and immersive demos gave designers the opportunity to experience the breadth of KPF’s technological offerings – from V-Ray with Chaos Group to AI and Machine Learning. Upon the start of the New York workday, London staff members tuned in via livestream, joining global colleagues for sessions about Computational Design in Dynamo, Generative Design, BIM 360 Design, and more.

In-house specialists from KPF’s Urban Interface, Environmental Performance, and Mobility teams overviewed ongoing research and data analytics used throughout the design process to address the complexities of designing for the 21st century city, sharing proprietary generative design tools and computational simulations to educate KPF designers at all levels. The firm’s Makerspace technicians also guided staff in creating custom objects via 3D printing, FormTech, and milling techniques.

Throughout the day, staff members were encouraged to interact with exhibitors to experience VR walkthroughs in 1:1 scale, test out the latest in cloud rendering and simulation software, and receive personalized feedback to improve design and productivity workflows.

Additional technology partners included Bluebeam, Chaos Group, Enscape, Epic, Hypar, Ideate, Iris VR, Omniverse by NVIDIA, Pinnacle Series by Eagle Point, The Living, Twinmotion, Ultimaker, and Xi Frame by Nutanix.
