KPF Celebrates Interior Design Power Grid Rankings at 55 Hudson Yards

The firm was ranked number five in this year’s listing of top design firms in New York, with Hudson Yards and 111 Murray named two of the top three largest projects completed in the past year, and One Vanderbilt and Waterline Square ranked as two of the top 10 on-the-boards projects.

This week, KPF Design Principal Trent Tesch, along with Director Lauren Schmidt and Senior Associate Principal Lane Rapson, celebrated the firm’s multiple rankings in Interior Design magazine’s 2019 Power Grid. Hosted at the offices of Boise Schiller Flexner at 55 Hudson Yards, the event celebrated the top designers working in the New York area today.

In addition to KPF’s ranking as one of the top five design firms in New York, four projects were also included in the listings. Hudson Yards, the largest private real estate development in U.S. history, topped the list of “20 Largest Development Projects” completed in the past year. The over 13,000,000-square-foot mixed-use development creates dynamic public spaces built above active Long Island Rail Road rail yards. Third on that list is 111 Murray, an elegant, 59-story residential tower in lower Manhattan that mediates between the lower elevations of Tribeca and the towering World Trade Center. Among the “10 Largest On-the-Boards Projects,” One Vanderbilt and Waterline Square were ranked fifth and seventh, respectively. One Vanderbilt blends private enterprise and the public realm, providing Class-A office space with sweeping views of Manhattan along with an integrated connection to the forthcoming East Side Access project at Grand Central. Sited between the Hudson River and the dense urban fabric of the Upper West Side, Waterline Square accommodates a blend of luxury condominiums, market-rate rental apartments, and affordable housing units.

The Power Grid ranks participating firms based on the square footage development projects within New York, New Jersey, Long Island, and Westchester County completed in the previous 18 months and currently on the boards.
