On September 30th, the two KPF Principals provided insight into the designs of Sequis Centre and Jakarta MPP ahead of building tours of each project.
At the event “Project Visit transit(ion): Talls,” Jeff and Josh spoke about Sequis Centre and Jakarta MPP, respectively, where they discussed the process of designing high-rise buildings with leading sustainability certifications. Sequis Centre rises 40 stories above the heart of the Sudirman Central Business District. As one of the first LEED Platinum buildings in Indonesia, the tower integrates a variety of sustainable design strategies to perform 36% better than the LEED baseline and features locally-sourced recycled materials. Jakarta MPP is designed to achieve the first WELL Core Gold Certification for office environments in Indonesia. The building boasts 30% energy savings and is coated in double-glazed low-e laminated exterior glass.
Following the introductions by Jeff and Josh, project collaborators led the tours, including Archica Danisworo of PDW Architect; Kurihara Wataru of Shimizu Design Corporation; Paul Chahal of Paul Adam Façades; Timothy Soebroto of Meinhardt Façade Technology; and Tateng K. Djajasudarma of Wiratman Architecture. Dinar Ari Wijayanti of IAI Jakarta moderated the event.
Additionally, the opening ceremony for the festival was held at KPF-designed Thamrin Nine’s Autograph Tower, Jakarta’s first supertall at 383 meters.
The Jakarta Architecture Festival ran from September 12 to the 30 and was organized by Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia (IAI) Jakarta. The building tour tooke place on September 30. Learn more about the festival here.
