On June 17, the KPF President discussed how our cities can drive innovation, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration through a more heterogeneous set of architectural and urban design solutions.
In his presentation “From Doom Loop to Boom Loop: Designing a Central Creative District,” Jamie explored how connective design methods and urban regeneration projects can spur invention at the urban scale. Addressing the economic and social challenges that many of our cities currently face, Jamie explained how we can shift city centers from single purpose districts to hubs of programmatic synergy and innovation.
Jamie’s keynote address ran from 3:00 to 3:30 pm. Afterwards he joined Tim Rowe, Founder and CEO of the Cambridge Innovation Center, and Jackie Sadek, Innovation Corridor Chair of the UK Innovation District, on a panel moderated by Kairos Shen, Executive Director and Associate Professor of the MIT Center for Real Estate. In the hour-long conversation, they dove into the “Future of Urban Innovation Hubs” and the forces that drive these districts.
The MIT World Real Estate Forum took place from June 17 to 18 at the MIT Media Lab in Boston. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the MIT Center for Real Estate convened the forum around the theme “Reimagine Real Estate.” Jamie was joined by three other keynote speakers and over 30 lecturers selected from the world’s leading industry innovators.
