Four KPF Projects Win 2021 Chicago Athenaeum International Architecture Awards

55 Hudson Yards, 18 Robinson, Rosewood Bangkok, and Qiantan Center were included in this year’s winners, spanning four countries and a variety of programming.

An office building in Manhattan, 55 Hudson Yards features a distinctive orthogonal façade, a nod to the neighboring Meatpacking District. The gunmetal grid evokes a sense of modernity that appeals to the building tenants, an assortment of legal, technology, and creative teams. Column-free corners and terraces offer views over the western side of the site.

18 Robinson, a mixed-use tower comprised of office space with retail programming in the podium, brings extensive landscaped terraces to the heart of Singapore. 20 floors rise above the podium, with views looking towards the marina, and a top-floor garden includes lush greenery and unmatched skyline views.

The Rosewood Bangkok adds an iconic form to the city’s central business district, with a design inspired by the elegant Thai greeting gesture, Wai. This shape creates expansive terraces with high levels of privacy. The 30-floor hotel includes restaurants, bars, a spa, and an outdoor swimming pool. A top-floor villa provides panoramic views of the city.

In Shanghai, Qiantan Center is comprised of two towers, the taller of which rises 270 meters and is dedicated to offices, while the shorter is home to the Shangri-La Hotel. The modern, mixed-use development also includes a podium that provides a covered path and elevated bridge between the two towers.

This is the sixth consecutive year to feature KPF projects as winners. View the 2020, 2019, and 2018 announcements to learn about past honorees.

The Chicago Athenaeum International Architecture Awards are in their 18th year, celebrating new and cutting-edge international architecture and design to the museum’s global audience. The winners were chosen by an international jury. View all of this year’s winners here.
