The KPF Principal spoke on a roundtable, providing insight into Boston’s Seaport Square Innovation District, one of the city’s largest private developments.
In the webinar hosted by Smart Density, Around the Globe: Urban Innovation Districts, Elie shared how the urban plan links clusters of Boston’s Seaport through a major boulevard, mixed-use neighborhoods, and a strong architectural character. Now more than a decade since its completion, the Seaport Square Innovation District is recognized globally for its life sciences, technology, and media presence.
Seaport Square is included in The New Neighbourhood Guidebook, a publication created by the University of Toronto’s School of Cities and Smart Density. The project’s feature explores the urban plan’s phasing, the transformation from initial vision to completion, and the design’s focus on the public realm.
Elie was joined by three speakers, Abel Porcar Badal of Batleiroig, Scott Page of Interface Studio, and Michael Sørensen of Henning Larsen, who highlighted additional innovation districts around the world.
