On January 19th, the KPF Director spoke on the panel “Acoustic Matters,” providing insight into the design of learning spaces.
Studies have proven that acoustics have a dramatic effect on both students and teachers in spaces where speech communication is core to the education process. The panel “Acoustic Matters” featured industry experts exploring current design trends and best practices to meet the needs of modern classrooms and alternative learning spaces. David has worked on a large collection of KPF academic projects, including the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, ASU’s McCord Hall, Morgan State University’s Earl G. Graves School of Business & Management, and most recently, NYU Shanghai and HKUST(GZ).
David was joined by Ben Markham, LEED AP, of Acentech; Heidi Costello of Perkins&Will; and Ethan Bourdeau of the International WELL Building Institute. Patricia DeMuyt and Andrew Schmidt of USG’s Architectural and Building Science teams moderated the panel.
The event was hosted by USG and was streamed on January 19th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM EST. The panelists spoke live from The Players Club in New York, NY. Register here.
