As Managing Principal, Bernard led the firm’s Hong Kong office, supporting various projects, operations, and business development activities for KPF’s Asian practice.
Bernard is pursuing other interests outside of architecture, while Florence Chan assumes the role directing the office.
During his tenure at KPF, Bernard managed the design and coordination of some of the firm’s most ambitious projects, including the Ping An Finance Centre in Shenzhen and the CTF Finance Center in Guangzhou, the second and third tallest buildings in China, respectively. He also led the Hong Kong office’s effort in the planning and design of the state-of-the-art Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) campus.
Reflecting over 25 years of architectural experience around the world, Bernard’s portfolio encompasses a wide range of building types, from boutique townhomes to large-scale urban developments.
As Bernard moves on to explore a new career in art and arts management, growing out of his background as an accomplished architect, the firm thanks him for his many achievements during his tenure at KPF, and wishes him all the best.
“We thank Bernard for his many sustained contributions to our work, his longstanding leadership of our Hong Kong office, and the friendship that so many of us have enjoyed over the years,” says KPF President James von Klemperer. “We look forward to continuing our relationship as he ventures into new professional territories, supporting each other however we can.”
Correspondingly, KPF is pleased to announce that Florence Chan has been appointed to lead the Hong Kong office. Florence has been a senior member of the Hong Kong team for many years and has managed some of KPF’s most significant projects in Asia. She also heads KPF’s recently established office in Shenzhen. Florence is well known in the region’s professional community and recently served as President of the Hong Kong Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
