On June 22nd, the KPF Senior Associate Principal spoke about the office tower in Washington, D.C., and shared how the project realigns the traditional local city block.
Amanda was joined by Kahlil Francis, Development Associate at Skanska. Their presentation focused on how 17xM offers visual relief within the typical DC grid through a design that fuses form, façade articulation, and the use of natural materials. Targeting LEED Gold, the façade uses vertical sun-screens and horizontal cells to optimize insulation and maximize solar control. These design elements and sustainable principles central to the project create a future-forward workplace.
