China Resources Headquarters

China Resources Headquarters

The China Resources Headquarters tower is Shenzhen’s latest vertical icon, marking the latest node of cultural development with its tapered, diagrid form and diverse uses for its main client and the public at large.

Strategically positioned to overlook Shenzhen Bay in the Houhai District, the 400-meter tower anchors the larger Business District Master Plan, linking to public transportation and flanked by the Shenzhen Sports Complex to the north and the linear greenbelt to the south.

The tower’s external columns emphasize its verticality and tapered, sculptural form. At the lower section, the columns converge to create a series of entry portals while, at the top, they merge to a singular point. This diagrid system not only strengthens the building’s structural integrity but also allows for column-free office interiors and an organizational structure that allows for smaller and more boutique office floor plates as the tower rises.

The “sky hall” located at the very top of the tower houses various corporate functions, offering a unique, interior view of the spire and its diagrid pattern. Further enriching the public experience, a 2,000 square-meter park connects to a retail pavilion that appears to float above and a sunken plaza anchored below. This hub connects to the B1 office lobby, a 3,000 square-meter museum, performance hall, and auditorium.
