Collegiate Senior Class Visits KPF

On Thursday, The Collegiate School senior class visited the New York KPF office as part of their final weeks of school prior to graduation.

KPF is currently at work on the new Collegiate School facility located on West 61st and 62nd Streets between West End Avenue and Riverside Boulevard.  The school’s current facility, sixteen blocks north, has been home to the Collegiate campus since 1892.  The KPF project team, Doug Hocking, Andrew Klare, Vicky Dushku, Kesler Flores, and Amanda Prins led small groups of students on tours of the studios and work spaces.  Mr. Klare and Ms. Dushku then presented the new design for the Collegiate School to the exiting senior class.   Following the presentation, the KPF team and the senior class engaged in a discussion about the new design and what aspects will make the new home distinctly Collegiate

Mr. Klare, Director at KPF, added, “Like all graduates, we have emotional ties to our alma maters.  Collegiate is no exception given its long standing history and stature.  We were honored to host the senior class in sharing our design and process in which we’ve been developing the future home of Collegiate. The young men offered thoughtful questions and insight into the school which were appreciated by all.”

The new 180,000 square foot facility will house 9 floors and two cellars including state of the art classrooms, labs, gymnasium, practice gym, auditorium, black box theater and cafeteria. A stacked commons joined with the central stair will compliment the schools vertical culture.
