Occupying a pivotal site in Hong Kong’s business and retail center, this 30-story mixed-use building is at once a high-end retail destination and Hong Kong headquarters for a variety of tenants, including JP Morgan.
With 23 floors of office space, the tower’s entrance on Pedder Street and Connaught Road expresses a strong vertical gesture, where the curtain wall is modified to articulate a three-story light box above the office entrance. A semi-transparent vertical mass by day, the corner structure transforms into an urban lantern by night.
The building’s three-story retail podium accommodates bespoke entry experiences for high-end fashion and lifestyle brands, with large display windows and custom stone plaques applied to the glass curtain wall.
By way of four pedestrian bridges, Chater House is not only linked to adjacent properties, including Landmark Hong Kong, but also directly connects to public transit, via Central Station and the Airport Express line. This bridge network forms an elevated ground plane and an interior shopping street that can accommodate 6,000 people per hour, creating a vibrant and efficient pedestrian experience in the busy city center.
