Jackie Luk Discusses Sustainable Design and Waste Reduction in Dense Cities

On December 8, the Associate Principal joined an event led by Hong Kong’s Business Environment Council to share strategies for cities to achieve zero waste.

Leaders in sustainable design from Hong Kong, Singapore, and New York discussed the role of building design in waste production and how to reduce this impact. The panel titled “Designing Buildings for a Zero Waste Hong Kong,” was moderated by Simon Ng, Directory of Policy and Research at Business Environment Council. Industry leaders gathered to share their strategies, experiences, and policy suggestions for high density cities in reaching their zero-waste goals.

Jackie Luk has been with KPF for over 15 years and is currently working on Vattanacville, a large-scale residential development in Cambodia designed as a smart eco city. She was joined by Dr Amie Lai, Senior Sustainable Development Manager at Swire Properties Limited; Ir Dr. Cary Chan, JP, Executive Director at Hong Kong Green Building Council; Fiona Sykes, Associate at Arup; and M.K. Leung, Director of Sustainable Design at Ronald Lu & Partners. Clare Miflin, Founder of Center for Zero Waste Design, was the Keynote Speaker of the event.
