Bruce Fisher AIA
Bruce Fisher believes the form, planning, and aesthetic for each project should be distinct, sensitively responding to the specifics of context, environment, and the aspirations of the client brief. Bruce co-leads KPF Urban, a specialist group that brings together master planning and architecture with KPF’s data-driven design and environmental practice to create more connected, sustainable, and equitable cities.
Employing more than two decades of experience across varied sectors and regions, Bruce was instrumental in the design of BSD City in Jakarta, a 3,000-hectare, mixed-use master plan that weaves green spaces and transit systems throughout its communities, improving social and spatial integration. He was also a project lead for Vattanacville, a connected collection of pedestrian-oriented villages outside of Phnom Penh that fuses Cambodian urban life with suburban living.
As Design Principal, Bruce has led a number of projects on highly urban, challenging sites. 18 Robinson, a mixed-use tower located in a compact site in Singapore’s Central Business District, expands exterior public space by incorporating expansive landscaped terraces. Similarly, Hysan Place, the first LEED Platinum development in Hong Kong, provides multi-story rooftop oases and natural ventilation, creating a sense of openness that contrasts its densely populated neighborhood.
Bruce has received numerous awards throughout his career including the AIA International Design Award for 18 Robinson and the AIA New York Merit Award for pro bono work in Accra, Ghana. He has also co-chaired the New York AIA Global Dialogues and teaches at The Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation at Columbia University.
