KPF Digital Practice Hosts Tech Week 2022

For the third annual Tech Week, the firm’s Digital Practice, Urban Interface, and Environmental Performance teams organized 24 in-person and virtual events held over three days, led by experts in the field of contemporary AEC design and technology.

The internal conference was held over Zoom and in KPF’s New York and London offices from May 10th through 12th. The three days were full of informative presentations, panel discussions, software vendor demonstrations, and hands-on interactive sessions, all with the common goal of sharing new technologies and ways of working with the firm’s staff.

Events opened with a keynote presentation by Dennis Shelden, “Built Environment Disruption and Reinvention: Technology, Society and Practice.” Additional events included virtual shop tours, panels on tools of the future and inclusivity in the industry and big data, and workshops in Grasshopper, Revit, and NVIDIA. The New York Visualization team offered a VR showcase, the Makerspace hosted a tile-making session, and the Environmental Performance team held an energy reduction design competition. Jenny Sabin provided the closing keynote presentation, titled “Biosynthetic Design: Towards Adaptive Architecture.”

Tech Week initially began in 2020 as a single-day event, and in 2021 the event expanded into a full week of programming. The events were held in conjunction with industry partners including Autodesk, McNeel, Chaos, NVIDIA, and many more. Learn more about KPF’s Digital Practice team here.
