Robert Scymanski AIA LEED AP BD+C
Robert Scymanski has more than 39 years of architectural management and technical experience on projects in the United States, Europe and Asia. Since joining KPF in 2011, he has acted as technical group leader for KPF’s large multi-use project in New York City, Hudson Yards. KPF’s Phase I design and full-service management / construction services include a 400,000sf platform spanning the rail yard, two office towers totaling 5.3 million square feet, 1 million square foot retail complex and 4.3 acres of public open space.
Robert’s primary responsibilities within the firm as technical lead on Hudson Yards is to advise on potential strategies to achieve the firm’s design objectives, oversee the preparation of construction documents, coordinate code compliance, materials specifications, and assist KPF’s architects in conducting construction administration services. He also participates in KPF’s internal peer review process where he consults teams concerning quality control and assurance. Robert has an expressed interest in developing the technical, construction administration and field observation expertise of KPF’s younger architects.
Prior to joining KPF, Robert managed numerous corporate, governmental, and institutional projects including headquarters for Bouygues, Leo Burnett, NationsBank, Tanjong / Binariang, Securities & Exchange Commission, and Lucent Technologies. He also managed the re-building of Eero Saarinen’s “Llanrwst” after severe fire damage and the restoration of his Ingalls Hockey Rink at Yale University.
While attending the University of Kentucky, Robert received student design awards including Interior Design, Design Excellence, Outstanding Professional Promise, and AIA Gold Medal for Outstanding Graduating Senior. Robert is a licensed architect in the State of Connecticut, holds NCARB certification for architectural licenses in other states, and is a LEED accredited professional.
