BurJuman Centre

Dubai, UAE Bur Juman Centre Mixed-Use, Office, Residential, Retail 2.2 million ft2 / 204,000 m2 Retail ME Mall of the Year (2005)

The Bur Juman Centre is a landmark attraction whose tower rises dramatically to add to the Dubai skyline. Large, glazed entrances along the Trade Centre Road draw attention to the multitude of activities occurring within the centre while connecting visitors in the mall to the City outside. In addition to extensive new retail and entertainment space, the expanded Bur Juman Centre also incorporates luxury apartments, an office tower, a health and recreation club and parking. All these components are connected to retail, dining and entertainment facilities at a landscaped garden podium level.

The existing and new Bur Juman retail areas are linked together by a sinuous four-story arcade. Daylight filters down into the space from high clerestory windows. The form and ambience of this internal street recalls a traditional Arab souk.

Two hundred luxury apartments on a total of 21 floors rise in a curving structure at the western edge of the site. Special duplex maisonettes are placed at the upper floors. All apartments have private terraces and feature premium materials, finishes and fixtures in the interiors.

At the southern edge of the site is located a 130 meter (425 foot) office tower. Tenants are offered excellent state-of-the-art business accommodation. Typical floors, with areas of 1,675 gross square meters (18,000 gross square feet), can be easily divided into smaller spaces for multiple tenants. Larger occupants are able to interconnect their office floors by introducing private stairways.

The podium is extensively landscaped with greenery and water features. Leisure facilities include a health club, swimming pools, a running track, and tennis courts.
